HACKATHON 2024

The aim of the hackathon is to give participants the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned in theory and to work on innovative circular solutions based on the challenges faced by existing companies.

The hackathon will take place during the Summer School, and the participants will be divided into teams: it will be possible to ask to participate in an already-made team, but those who will apply alone will be assigned to a team based on their backgrounds.

Each team will compete in one of the many challenges that will be presented: your job will be to imagine an innovative, circular and sustainable solution for a real issue of today’s society and today’s working environment.

The teams will be assisted by tutors and mentors, and at the end of the Summer School they will present their projects to a jury that will then declare the winner, assigning the prizes.

Participants can choose between two challenges:

In the last two decades, the volume of consumer and business electronic equipment has drastically increased. At the same time, the fast changes in information and communication technologies have drastically lowered the device’s lifetime and long-term usefulness. It’s crucial to design new solutions to solve this issue.

The textile and fashion industry accounts for around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions resulting in a major contributor to climate change. It is therefore crucial to search for design solutions that offer the lowest possible environmental impact during the entire life cycle of the products.
